Programme for June 2010 to January 2011

Please note  - if you are concerned about the weather and being the only one to turn up at a venue, please phone a co-ordinator or anyone else on the list of members to check if anyone else is going.
We meet 10 a.m. to 12 noon unless otherwise stated.  Some stay and have lunch locally when we are outside sketching.

June 11th

Wyming Brook..  Redmires Road. Meet in Wyming Brook Car Park near Redmires Reservoir.

June 25th

Hathersage. Meet by the swimming pool car park.    

July 9th

Our Full Day Out. Cromford Mill. Meet in the car park next to the mill at 10.30 a.m. (Mill Road) You have the mill, the wharf, the canal and the village. Also, cafes and if it rains, shopping!

July 23rd  

Fanshawe  Gate Hall. At Owler Bar, turn left down the B6054 to Holmesfield. Take the second left (Fanshawe Gate Lane). The house is some way down the lane on the left hand side. Park in the stack yard just past the main gates. £1 will be collected from each towards the charity supported by the national Gardens Scheme. Mrs Ramsden will supply coffee and biscuits (£1).

Aug 6th 

Monsal Head. Meet in the car park behind the hotel. 

Aug 20th 

Victoria Quays. Meet on the quayside.

Sept 3rd  

Millenium Gallery.  Watercolour Exhibition. “Watercolour in Britain - Tradition and Beyond". This includes work by Turner, William Blake and our own Pam Marshall! Free entry. You could also sketch in the Winter Gardens or outside.

Sept 17th 

Horsleygate Hall gardens.  From Owler Bar, take the B6051 to Barlow and Chesterfield. Take the first left (after just over a mile) onto Horsleygate Lane.  The Hall is the first house, immediately on the left. Drive through the gate to a parking area.  There will be a small charge.

Oct 1st 

Graves Park Animal Farm, off Hemsworth Road. Meet in the car park by Bunting Nook.

Oct 15th  

Wentworth Garden Centre and village.  Meet in the garden centre car park.

Oct 29th  

Traditional Heritage Museum.  Ecclesall Road (just below Hunter’s Bar next to Endcliffe Methodist Church.).  £2 entrance fee which includes light refreshments and short talk before sketching. The museum is manned by volunteers and they are opening specially for us. It is a delightful space to sketch in.

Nov 12th

Carter Knowle Methodist Church Cafe, Edgedale Road, Bring some sketches.  Practise pen and wash.

Nov 26th 

Pollyanna Pickering Christmas Exhibition.  This is an extra meeting. Directions for finding her studio are available. To find out more, visit her website www.pollyannapickering.co.uk and click on “What’s On.”   

Dec 10th  

Christmas lunch.  We hope to go to the Rising Sun, Abbey Lane, again. This will be confirmed nearer the time.  

Jan 7th 2011

A.G.M. and Christmas get-together. Please bring some food to share and any work you may like to show us. Please note: TIME: 10.00 to 1p.m. As we have a packed programme we are extending the meeting. New U3A membership numbers and annual subs of £3.00 will be collected where possible.
